Nature Discovery Camp is for kids who love outdoor adventures like hunting for frogs, scooping minnows from the pond, gardening, and taking nature hikes in search of the next great bug discovery. Parents love us because we group our campers by age, in small groups led by certified teachers who know how to keep children active, engaged, and learning. At Nature Discovery Camp we enjoy exploration, hands-on experiments, collecting nature treasures to observe in our group aquariums, and sketching in our camp journals. Arts & crafts are nature-based, meaningful, and created with your child's own unique imagination and personality. Our mission at Nature Discovery Camp is to foster a sense of awe and wonder for nature as we encourage inquiry-based learning and having fun! A typical day at Nature Discovery Camp looks something like this...
9:00 - 9:15 Log Cabin Round-Up / Camp leaders share plans for the day before everyone heads outside!
9:15 - 11:15 Four station rotations (30 minutes per activity):
1. Nature Hike and Treasure Hunt
2. Gardening (campers learn to grow their own food + take home seeds and plants)
3. Pond Scooping for Minnows, frogs, and bugs (we're convinced our campers would do this all day long!)
4. Art and Crafts (Painting by the pond, nature treasure boxes, walking stick with personalized flags)
11:30 - 12:00 Picnic Lunch - under shade trees or in the big log cabin
12:15 - 12:45 Meet the Expert Guest Speaker - A new guest every day! (Beekeeper, Vermicomposting expert, Reptile Expert)
1:00- 1:30 Animal Encounter - A fun new animal each day (tortoise, Iguana, snake, salamander, bunny)
1:30 - 2:00 Games (relay races, water fun)
2:00- 2:30 One more adventure hike around the pond
2:30 - 3:00 Log Cabin Round-Up / Campers enjoy a tasty popsicle while they wait for parent pick-up
Nature Discovery Camp is has everything you'd ever want in a summer nature camp including a pond full of frogs, toads, ducks, and turtles, a wooded nature trail for short hikes, and a big log cabin where we take breaks from the sun, enjoy craft and storytime, and where the restrooms are located.
What should your camper bring? A hat, sunscreen, bug spray, a refillable water bottle, a sack lunch for our picnic, and rubber boots for exploring around the pond.
