ABOUT ABOUT

Ready To Grow Gardens Nature Discovery Summer Camp

Each day, campers will meet a new animal learning about their role in the environment and how they survive. Animals ranging from the smallest insects found in a field, turtles and frogs in a pond, and goats and chicks living on a farm. Campers will dive right in learning everything from safe handling and care of each animal to their distinct diet and habitat needs. Broken up into small groups of no more than 15, each “discovery group” will be lead by a certified teacher and one assistant as they hike near the pond and through the fields, create art inspired by nature around them, and play fun games!

In our gardening component, campers will learn all about sustainable vegetable and fruit gardening, butterfly and hummingbird gardening, as well as native plant and habitat gardening. We will learn about how to grow native plants to attract more birds, amphibians, and reptiles as well as methods for storing fresh food from the garden. On Friday, each camper will head home with not only seeds and seedlings, but also a jar of refrigerator pickles that they've prepared themselves! Not to mention all the original artwork made throughout the week, treasures they find, a camp t-shirt, and memories that will last a lifetime!

Camp Details:

We will be outside most of the morning rotating through fun stations of activities in pavilions and under shade trees. Our breaks will be in the giant air-conditioned log cabin and our picnic lunches will be enjoyed on a quilt under a shade tree as we reflect on that day's discoveries!
